How to turn a video you watched into your own post

You watched a video this week that made you want to say something. Maybe a take in your field you half-agreed with, or a claim you knew was wrong from experience. So you did what everyone does: hit share, added “Interesting 👇”, and posted someone else’s thinking with your name near it.

Reposting is consumption with extra steps. The moment worth capturing wasn’t the video itself but your reaction to it. That flicker of “yes, but not quite” is your post. Here’s how to extract it.

The manual method

  1. Catch the reaction while it’s hot. The window is minutes. Write one sentence: what did watching this make you want to say?
  2. Name the relationship. Are you agreeing with a better example? Disagreeing from experience? Applying their general point to your niche? Connecting it to something they didn’t mention? Pick one — it’s the spine of the post.
  3. Interrogate your reaction. Why do you think that? What have you seen that they haven’t? Where’s your credibility on this exactly?
  4. Write the post about YOUR point, with the video as the jumping-off line, not the content. “Saw a video arguing X. Here’s what a decade of doing X taught me instead.”
  5. Link or credit the original. Response content, done fairly, sends attention both ways.

This works, and almost nobody does it, because steps 2 and 3 are real thinking and the reaction decays before you’re anywhere near a keyboard.

The share-sheet version

Xtraktr does this as a share-sheet action. You’re watching the video on Instagram or YouTube (articles work too). Share it to Xtraktr and pick your angle:

Then it interviews you about the content through that angle, one question at a time, while the reaction is still hot. What did the video claim? Where does your experience say otherwise? What’s your example? By the time the questions stop landing, your response exists in your words. From there, shape it into a LinkedIn post with the original credited as the prompt it was.

The consumption you’re already doing is a content calendar nobody else can copy, because the reactions are yours. Watch the video, disagree a little, say why out loud.

Do this in one sitting

Xtraktr interviews you out loud and turns your answers into a draft — all on your iPhone.
